McLean, VA

You bet your tush I'm reviewing a McD's! Laugh it up, I'd give myself a "funny" for this one if I could. Which fast food chain has the best fries? Uh...McD's (hm...excluding Arby's curly fries, those are fun and yum.) Which fast food chain has better frozen sweet treats? McD's (yeah, put that Frosty down and grab a McFlurry!) What is more classic than a happy meal from McD's? Nothing. Of all the kids meals I've had in my adult life, none make my heart smile like a kid's meal from McDonalds. So it was a long day, I needed a burger. Specifically, a McDonald's burger. I got my one patty burger...and split a McRib...and fries...and their limited time only, Pumpkin Pie. Once I bit into my burger and felt the stress exit my body, and the fat come in. Long day, over. As for the McRib I was told I must try, I've come to the conclusion that I think I could live without. Too many onions, too little sauce. It was just weird. The pumpkin pie I bought on impulse? I could also live without. It tasted like canned pumpkin shoved into their pie crust. Of course you can get much better burgers, fries, pie, etc. elsewhere but, when it comes to fast food, you know every now and again you just can't resist getting some delicious crap from here.

Despite not having a happy meal, I don't think that I could have been more pleased with my walk down memory lane with my cheeseburger. Beef patty with cheese, pickles, ketchup, and onions! It's not that great, and yet it is.....so hard to describe that nostalgic feeling. Also I had the MCRIB last night !!!! I haven't had one of these since they first came out with the Flintstones movie in the 90's. I rather enjoyed it, but perhaps it was the particular store, but there was too much onion in my sandwich and too little sauce. Aside from that, I shall be having another McRib before they retire them for another decade or whatever. Hurry up and get your McRib, they're only in stores this year for 6 weeks. This used to be a good McDonalds. I know that because of how busy they are, they don't have time to smile. But the sheer rudeness and lack of communication was ridiculous. Maybe if the food was top notch (by McDonald's standards, at least), but it was luke warm with not at all crisp fries or nuggets. It's a shame about the single arched closing...

Rochester, NM

I recently visited this McDonald's to try the often lauded but illusive McRib.

While it was tastier than anticipated, it is hardly worth the cult-like status it has earned thanks to its ephemeral nature. The tangy, sweet sauce overpowers all tastes, with the onions and pickles becoming mere hints. The patty, which McDonald's states is processed pork shoulder, but vegans claim to be the shredded heart, intestine, stomach and anus of the pig that played "Babe," is nearly tasteless. It seems like a pork scented sauce delivery vehicle.

Though I was not blown-away by the taste, I found myself immediately craving another. Several days later, the thought of one still makes me salivate. It's quite odd.

At $2.79, the McRib seems like it sports a very healthy profit margin for McDonald's. I regret that I am not a shareholder.

As for this McDonald's location, the drive-through was the busiest that I have witnessed at 6 PM in this city. It is exclusively staffed by the high school-aged, and it is reasonably quick and efficient. I was not particularly impressed by the service I received, but found the choreographed ballet of the ten or so staff members packed into the drive-through window area fascinating. My fellow counter customers and I also experienced rather long wait times for our food.

Almost all routes out of Rochester will take you past another McDonald's. Consider them over this location for the sake of simple expediency.

I made my yearly pilgrimage to a McDonalds once again, as it was time for the McRib.

Once again, I was reminded of why I don't go to McDonalds.

Is it the worst place in the world? No, but why try to find someplace worse?

I get it's McDonalds so there is only so much you can expect but dayum. Angus bacon cheddar wrap minus the bacon. Bacon ranch salad and half the lettuce was black and borderline rotten. Carrots were like boot leather. No straw for my iced tea. My money would have been better spent elsewhere.
